Author of 17 previous collections of poetry, David Ignatow is
a major American poet with a career spanning over 50 years and
has received from The National Institute of Arts and Letters
an award "for a lifetime of creative effort." Among
his many other awards, are two Guggenheim fellowships, the Bollingen
Prize, the Robert Frost Award, The John Steinbeck Award. He
has edited American Poetry Review and Beloit Poetry Journal,
and describes himself as "an autodidact" who did most
of his studying "at the 42nd Street Library in Manhattan
the '30s and '40s." His home is in East Hampton, Long Island.
