Deena
Linett was born in Boston and grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
She has been teaching at Montclair State University in New Jersey
since 1989, and has been promoted to the rank of Professor of
English. Linett has published short fiction and non-fiction as
well as two prize-winning novels, On Common Ground and
The Translators Wife , which were completed during fellowships
at Yaddo. Linett is the recipient of 1996 and 2002 fellowships
to the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers in
Scotland , where many poems in her first collection, Rare
Earths, were begun (BOA Editions, 2001). Most recently,
Linett was awarded a residency fellowship to the Baltic Centre
for Writers and Translators , Sweden , Summer 2004.
