In this pamphlet, Bly addresses the "holes" we create around and in ourselves while carrying on with the routines of our lives. These poems, as they create a greater awareness of the incredible and awful stories that go on around us every day, become gifts of wisdom to help fill these holes. "What we do not care to say fills the mouth / When we fail to speak a certain essential word."

Holes the Crickets Have Eaten in the Blankets was issued in a limited edition of 3,000 chapbooks as part of the BOA Pamphlets Series, of which 2,925 trade copies were bound in wrappers. Unwrapped copies have been archived at BOA Editions, Ltd., since publication and are in near fine condition. Unread. Ideal collector's copy. Actual cover design varies slightly from the photo.

Robert Bly is the author of more than thirty books of poetry, including the chapbook Holes the Crickets Have Eaten in Blankets, published by BOA in 1997. As the editor of the magazine The Sixties (begun as The Fifties), Bly introduced many unknown European and South American poets to an American audience. He is also the editor of numerous collections and the author of a number of nonfiction books.
