Shenandoah

Delmore Schwartz (1913-1966) was a poet and short story writer. He graduated from New York University in 1935, and in 1937 published his most famous short story, In Dreams Begin Responsibilities. Schwartz received praise for his writing from some of the most prominent literary figures of the age, including T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, and Ezra Pound. In 1959 he became the youngest-ever recipient of the Bollingen Prize and went on to teach creative writing at six universities, including Syracuse, Princeton, and Kenyon College. Schwartz's work is notable for its philosophical and deeply meditative nature, and much more of his writing has been printed posthumously.
