Ana Valverde Osan was born in Tangier, Morroco. In Morroco she attended French schools and received her baccalauréat. After coming to the United States, she attended Indiana University Northwest, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in English, French, and Spanish. She went on to earn her Master’s degree and her Doctorate from the University of Chicago. She is an assistant professor of Spanish at Indiana University Northwest. Her specialty is poetry by women and she is currently translating from the French into Spanish the first of Anne Hérbert’s four books of poetry. She translated Francisca Aguirre’s Ithaca, which was published by BOA Editions in 2004.
