Marosa di Giorgio (1932 - 2004) was an acclaimed Uruguayan poet and novelist. Her collection, Diadem: Selected Poems, translated from the Spanish by Adam Giannelli, was published by BOA Editions in 2012. Considered one of the most singular voices in Latin America, di Giorgio, like Walt Whitman, expanded the same work throughout her career, culminating in Los Papeles Salvajes which unites fourteen books. Also a theatre actress, in the 1950s–1960s, di Giorgio appeared in almost thirty productions.
