Boa Playlists: THE COMMITTEE OF MEN

What’s one thing every reader loves? If you said to get lost in a book with a cozy chair and music to match, we’re on the same page. Introducing a new series on the blog, “Boa Playlists.” Whether you prefer instrumental only or songs that feel like they were written for a specific book, there’s a playlist out there for everyone.

For our first Boa Playlist, summer intern Elena Garcia created a Spotify playlist inspired by James Ciano’s The Committee of Men. Delving into themes of belonging and exile, accountability and forgiveness, and the quiet damage done by historically unexamined masculinity, Ciano confronts how the masculine identity is formed starting at childhood.

With songs inspired by the poems such as “Coney Island Baby” by Lou Reed and “Teenagers” by My Chemical Romance, find yourself transported to the world of The Committee of Men as you listen. You can order your copy today at boaeditions.org and listen to the playlist on Spotify under Boa Editions.

Which book would you like to see get its own playlist next? Let us know on Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky, or make your own playlist and tag us! Happy reading!

Elena Garcia is a summer intern at Boa Editions. She holds an MA in English Literature from SUNY Brockport and a certificate in Creative Writing. Born and raised in Rochester, NY, she can be found supporting local bookstores or relaxing at home with her dogs, Copper and Jaxon.
